Irene M. Larson

   Funeral services were held Nov. 18 for Irene Larson, 68, who died Nov. 13.
   Mrs. Larson was born in Seattle Jan. 24, 1928 to Tonnes and Esther Pedersen who had immigrated to the U.S. from Norway and Sweden. They settled in the Bothell area during the 1920s.
   Growing up, she attended Bothell schools, graduating from Bothell High School in 1946, where she earned a letter in girls' basketball. During and after World War II, Mrs. Larson worked for the telephone company. From 1963 to 1977, she was one of the first female bus drivers in the Northshore School District.
   Her family described her as an extraordinarily kind and generous person, and as a bus driver, she frequently went beyond her assigned duties to help a child or family in need. As a result, several of the children maintained long friendships with her.
   Mrs. Larson was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin R. Larson. She is survived by her sons, Tom, Glen, and Robert; daughter, Nadine Carter; grandchildren, Glenn, Jeremy, Sara, Cameron, and Brennan Carter.

Catherine M. Schmeichel

   A memorial service was held Nov. 15 at the Bothell Funeral Home for Catherine Schmeichel, 44, who died on Nov. 12.
   Mrs. Schmeichel moved to the Northshore area six years ago and was most recently a resident of Woodinville. She worked as a computer programer and was a club leader for the Mavericks 4-H Club of Snohomish County.
   Mrs. Schmeichel is survived by her husband, Lynn; children, Julie, 16, Joanne, 15, and John, 14; parents, Robert and Eugenie Higgins; brothers, David and Michael (Aparna) Higgins.
   Remembrances, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Mavericks 4-H Club of Snohomish County or Wellness Works, c/o Evergreen Cancer Center.
