Tree-Cycle with King County
King County residents can dispose of their Christmas tree and help the environment this holiday season by taking advantage of King County's free Christmas tree recycling program. Last year, residents recycled more than 67,000 trees through the popular program.
The tree-cycling program offers several convenient ways to recycle Christmas trees at no charge:
Trees collected through this program will be chipped and made into compost for landscaping projects. For more information, call the King County Solid Waste Division at 296-4466 (voice) or 1-800-833-6388 (TTY).
- Curbside: Some residents may be able to recycle their tree with normal curbside yard waste. Residents should contact their hauler for details and restrictions.
- Community groups: A number of community groups sponsor tree-cycling collection. Residents should watch for flyers announcing the service.
- Drop sites: Residents can drop off their tree at a number of locations free-of-charge on the weekends of Dec. 27-30, Jan. 3-5, and Jan. 11-13. Drop sites include Sears in Redmond and the Home Depot parking lot at 18333 120th Ave NE, Bothell, which will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
