No excuse for drinking and driving
We want your holiday season to be safe and happy. It seems one of the happiest times of year can turn tragic in an instant. More than 17,000 people died in alcohol-related crashes in 1995. There is no other way to state it: Don't drink and drive.
We've all heard it before, but we need to make it a way of life. Every holiday season, drinking and driving is the cause of numerous and needless accidents and fatalities. As is often the case, common sense and planning can help us reduce this type of accident.
We hope you'll keep these tips in mind:
One more reason to be a responsible host: If people leaving your home or office party drive drunk and injure or kill someone, you may bear some of the responsibility. Laws and circumstances vary from place to place, but hosts have been found financially responsible for the actions of their guests.
- Encourage designated drivers.
- Provide several designated drivers to drive your guests home.
- Serve in moderation, reduce the amount of alcohol you serve, or don't serve any.
There's no excuse for drinking and driving. By being a responsible host, you can help make the holidays safer for everyone. It's one of the best gifts you can give.
We wish you a happy and safe holiday!
