Scouts provide Christmas 'tree-cycling'
The scouts of Troop 39 of the Woodinville, Maltby, and Clearview areas will be collecting Christmas trees in neighborhoods for recycling Jan. 4 and 5.
You can help the environment (the trees are mulched), and help yourself while also helping the youth of Troop 39 by having your cleaned tree (please remove all tinsel and ornamentation) at curbside by noon on Jan. 4 or 5. Flocked trees are not recyclable.
Attach an envelope with your donation to one of the tree branches, writing "Troop 39" on the envelope. To make special arrangements for pickup or if you have questions, call 485-4371. This is the troop's major fundraiser for the year, raising approximately half of their operating budget.
King County residents can also dispose of their Christmas tree at several drop sites during the weekends of Jan. 3-5 and Jan. 11-13, including at the Home Depot parking lot at 18333 120th Ave NE, Bothell, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and at Sears in Redmond.
Trees will be chipped and made into compost for landscaping projects. The tree-cycling is free. For more information, call the King County Solid Waste Division at 296-4466 (Voice) or 1-800-833-6388 (TTY).
