JANUARY 13, 1997
Jerry Culberson (center) of Old Cedar Forge in Allyn, Washington, will be among the artists/blacksmiths displaying iron works at FrameWright Gallery in Bothell from Jan. 18 to Feb. 22.
An artists' reception for Living With Iron, an exhibit featuring hand-worked iron pieces by Phil Baldwin, Judith Caldwell, Jerry Culberson, Laura Griffith, Russell Jaqua, and Nancy Mee, will be held Jan. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the FrameWright Gallery, 18104 102nd Ave. NE in Bothell. The show will run through Feb. 22.
The exhibit, organized by Jamie Ross of Bothell, is representative of the renaissance of the art and craft of iron work. Iron work in this country was common through the 1920s, but practically disappeared until the '60s when the Artist Blacksmiths' Association was formed to provide a place where young people could learn and develop the art.
In addition to the iron pieces, photographs and Polaroid transfer images of award-winning Northwest photographer Jeri Childs will be on display.
