Jan. 21: Woodinville boys hoopsters defeated the Interlake High Saints, 50-42. The Falcons had three players in double figures. Marques Tuiasosopo led the team with 18 points, Jesse Barham had 11 points, and Aaron Brown scored 10.
Both squads started out slow, shooting just 33% in the first period. The score was just 6-6 with 2:52 left in the first. At this point, the Falcons made two quick steals and lay-ins by Barham and Tuiasosopo. Woodinville went on a 7-2 run to take a lead that they never relinquished, increasing their margin to 23-16 by halftime.
At half, both teams were shooting around 32%, WHS 8 of 25, IHS 8 of 26, while the Saints had a slim 18-17 lead in rebounds. Woodinville's pressure defense forced Interlake into 11 turnovers.
The second half saw Woodinville come out storming, running plays and crashing the boards, stretching the lead to 12 points. In the fourth, the Falcons shot 79% to secure the win.
Jan. 24: At Redmond, Woodinville trailed most of the game, rallied in the fourth, but lost, 50-43. By the half, the Falcons were behind 24-13, and were down by 16 by the end of the third period.
Then began the near-miraculous comeback. Led by Tuiasosopo (15 points), Barham (10 points), and Rodney Anderson (7 points), the Falcons closed the gap to just three points in the final moments. With the gym electric, Redmond's Frank Garcia was fouled and the game was suddenly out of reach.
Woodinville is 7-7 overall, 5-4 in league play.
