Local weather forecasts by Larry Schick
Schick Weather Services, run by local television and radio meteorologist Larry Schick, has teamed up with the newspapers of Northwest News to bring the local community weather forecasts specific to our area, as well as answering any weather questions readers may have.
Currently a Magnolia resident, Schick has lived in the Puget Sound area for 15 years and spent from 1991 to 1996 as an on-air meteorologist for KSTW Television. From 1983 to 1990, he was the on-air meteorologist for KING Television and KING 1090 Radio.
"Weather forecasting has become more precise, and we can pinpoint weather conditions in specific areas," Schick said. "Long-range forecasts have improved, as well."
Schick is excited about the challenge of forecasting the weather for the Northshore area and answering educational questions from readers.
"There's a lot of unique challenges in the convergence zone," said Schick, "From Bothell to Fall City, weather variations can be completely different." He also said that he hopes the print media will allow both him and readers to explore some of the longer-term general patterns for the area not easily explored in the time given on television.
