On Feb. 4, led by all-conference forward Marques Tuiasosopo's 19 points, the Woodinville High School Falcons defeated the Sammamish Totems, 49-43, in a race to secure the fifth spot in the Kingco playoffs.
The first quarter was sluggish, with both teams combining for just 20 points. Woodinville led 24-21 by the half. The Falcons hung on to win, thanks to Aaron Brown's 10 points, Rodney Anderson's 4, and Jesse Barham's 2.
On Feb. 6, the Friday night action saw Woodinville take on the Issaquah Indians and their 6'11", 275-lb. star, B. Heide. The Falcons lost, 52-46.
While Tuiasosopo and Anderson kept the Falcons close with good shooting, Heide was unstoppable, blocking shots and scoring points. Starting the third period, the Falcons were down 28-15, but went on an 18-8 run, finding themselves down by just five at the beginning of the fourth. Issaquah went back to their big man, whose 30 points spelled doom for the Falcons.
Barham led Woodinville with 16 points, Tuiasosopo tossed in 14, Anderson had 6, Brown 5, Cole 3, and Lubetkin 2.
For the season, Woodinville is 8-10 overall, 6-7 in league play. They remain in contention with Redmond and Newport for the final playoff spot. It will be decided Feb. 11 and Feb. 14 against Eastlake and Juanita, respectively. Both games are at the WHS gym at 7:30 p.m.
