Fire protection needs volunteers
Currently Duvall-King County Fire District 45 is holding a recruiting drive. They are looking for volunteer firefighters. Often people see signs out at the local fire stations and don't respond. Why? People may think that the fire department is looking for people to augment a full career staff.
The truth is that the Duvall-King County Fire District 45 department is primarily a volunteer fire department. The only career coverage is Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nights and weekends are covered solely by volunteer firefighters. The current program has two firefighters assigned each evening and weekend to provide initial response to emergencies from the main fire station in Duvall. On larger incidents, they are assisted by volunteers who respond from home. Currently there are only 30 volunteers to fill this need.
If you are concerned about your community, you can make a real difference to the people in this community by committing time and energy to the fire department. It's time well spent. If you understand your fire protection, you'll understand how much you are needed!
