Redmond hosts citizens' Fire Academy
For those who have wondered what it would be like to be a firefighter, the Redmond Fire Department is offering its first Citizens' Fire Academy.
The program will be nine weeks long with classes held one weekday evening each week and three Saturdays during the day. Participants will learn first aid training and disaster preparedness. Other opportunities include the chance to use such fire fighting equipment such as self-contained breathing apparatus. Attendees will also perform hose evolutions, cut holes in a roof prop, and even put out training fires.
Applicants should live or work in the Greater Redmond area, be at least 16 years old and able to attend all of the class sessions. Applicants will be subject to a background check. Call 556-2200.
