student page Ben Daniels, a student at Woodinville High School, had the opportunity to experience politics in person when he served as a Senate page, sponsored by Sen. Bill Finkbeiner, R-45, during the first weeks of the 1997 session. Ben is the son of James and Carol Daniels of Woodinville and is interested in playing the trumpet and the guitar, skiing, and computers, and is involved in his church youth group.
Each year, senators sponsor a number of high school pages, with approximately 280 young people, ages 14-15, participating in the program. The students spend their week assisting on the Senate floor during discussions, delivering messages to other offices, and providing general assistance to legislative staff. A page school allows students to keep up their school work while learning about the Legislature.
