By now, many have noticed the floating shack in the Sammamish River, visible from Bothell Way just before the I-405 interchange. The structure is a floating fish trap designed to catch sockeye salmon spawned in tributaries last fall as they migrate downstream. The state Fish and Wildlife Department hopes to determine how many fry are produced from the tributaries to the Sammamish system, and how many of the fry migrate to Lake Washington, said Dave Seiler of the department's Sammamish Resource Group. The structure is scheduled to be there through April.
