Volunteers needed: learn how to teach basic English skills

Volunteers are needed to help teach basic English conversation and writing skills to local people from foreign countries. Many people in the community need someone to introduce them to the English language, or help them learn to use the bus system and the library, and how to access English lessons at local schools.
A workshop for volunteers will be held this Saturday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sammamish Valley Grange on 140th NE, next to the Hollywood Schoolhouse. Participants should bring a sack lunch. Tamara Belgacem from North Seattle Community College will teach the workshop.
The program is sponsored by Teen Northshore and the Sammamish Valley Grange with funding support from Lowell DeYoung. Call Carol Edwards at 483-0606.
