New Eagle Scout honored

Jayson Whaley

Jayson A. Whaley celebrated earning his rank of Eagle Scout.

Eagle Scout Jayson A. Whaley, 16, son of Doug and Cheryl Whaley of Woodinville, celebrated earning his Eagle Scout rank on March 1. His family, friends and fellow Boy Scouts from BSA Troop 422 helped him celebrate at his Eagle Court of Honor, held at the Northshore United Church of Christ.
Jayson began his scouting career with Cub Scout Pack 421 in 1987 as a Tiger Cub and worked his way through the ranks of Cub Scouts. He joined Boy Scout Troop 422 in 1993. He has enjoyed hiking, camping, and leadership in scouting.
The project that Jayson completed to earn his Eagle rank was creating a retaining wall and landscaping around the Northshore Youth Soccer storage shed (Eagle project of fellow scout Ian Jones) located at Hollywood Hill Elementary School. Jayson was responsible for designing, obtaining materials, organizing scouts and parents to do the work, and overseeing the entire project. Local businesses donating to Jayson's project were Knoll Lumber, GTE, and MacLendon's.
