Obituary: Donna Polacek
Donna Polacek, an active supporter of schools, athletics, and communtiy activities, passed away March 21 after a two-year illness. Survivors include her husband, Paul; son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Leah of Ellensburg; son, Josh, of Duvall; parents, Jack and Kay Wright of Redmond; sister and brother-in-law, Cathi and Larry Nelson of Waterville; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Katie Wright of Seattle; and four nephews.
Donna was born Nov. 19, 1946. She received an English degree from the UW in 1968. A resident of Duvall for 26 years, Donna co-founded the Duvall Co-op Preschool and then worked at Cherry Valley Elementary as a teacher's aide.
Donna ended her career in the Riverview School District as Director of Personnel and Public Affairs. While in the district, Donna developed a wellness program, was the cheerleading advisor for two years, and was the editor of Riverviews, the district newspaper. She participated in Duvall Days and won both 1st and 2nd place in the annual 10K run. She enjoyed traveling, kayaking, climbing Mt. Si, and keeping fit.
Donna received her Master's Degree from City University in June of 1996 in leadership and management.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at Valley Community Bank, 15305 Main Street, Duvall, WA 98109, in Duvall for the Donna Polacek Scholarship Fund. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 12 p.m. at the Carnation Bible Church, 32615 NE 45th St., Carnation.
