Newborn Anneliese Smyth didn't realize it, but she was already an honorary Girl Scout. As the first girl born on the Girl Scout's birthday, March 12, at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center in Kirkland, Anneliese was feted with gifts and an honorary membership by Girl Scouts from Woodinville, Bothell, and Redmond.
Five scouts representing area troops came to Evergreen's Family Maternity Center to welcome little Anneliese. They presented her parents, Elisa and Greg Smyth of Lake Forest Park, with flowers and gifts. Many of the gifts were hand-made by scouts working toward merit badges.
Several past Girl Scout birthday babies were also on hand, including Melissa Morgan of Redmond (1987), Sienna Jensen of Everett (1992), Ellen Neilson of Kirkland (1993), and Sierra Donelson of Bothell (1996). This year marks the 85th birthday of the Girl Scouts.
