The American Kennel Club (AKC) share somes helpful tips with allergy sufferers as this year's allergy season approaches. An allergy to the family dog is a reaction to the animal's dander, which becomes airborne and settles into furniture, clothes, carpets. Then the allergic person breathes in the particles, allowing the classic sneezing, wheezing, itching, and discomfort to develop.
- Thoroughly wash and vacuum all bedspreads, blankets, and rugs.
- Wet-dust and air out all rooms, paying close attention to the bedroom.
- Groom the dog carefully two or three times a week with a brush. Use a damp towel to wipe the dog down.
- Shampoo the dog once every two weeks, rinse well, squeezing out excess moisture. Dry normally.
