As a member of the Everett Rowing Association varsity crew team, sixteen-year-old Bridgit Egan of Bothell rowed in the 1997 Husky Invitational Regatta on Lake Washington April 5.
Egan, a sophmore at Bothell High School, is in her third season with the Everett team. The Everett crews won their races and will go on to compete in the Commencement Regatta in Tacoma and Brentwood in Canada.
Egan commutes daily to Everett for a three-hour practice session. She also is on the Bothell High swim team and plays the flute in the band. She says that crew is one sport that has good opportunities for women, especially in college scholarships.
Egan loves her sport. "Unlike other sports, rowing works every muscle in your body," she said.
