The Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney has charged Robert Kuchan, 32, with the second-degree murder of Tamie Jaramillo of Bothell on April 11.
According to court papers, Kuchan had brought a gun he was looking to sell to the Everett apartment of a female friend. Jaramillo was shot in the head after Kuchan held her in a headlock. Prosecutors say Kuchan and the female friend then left the apartment and drove around until the woman was able to separate herself from Kuchan and dial 911.
Police responded around 12:30 a.m. Saturday and arrested Kuchan. Kuchan allegedly admitted to detectives that he had pointed a gun at Jaramillo and fired it to scare her.
Kuchan has two felony convictions for violations of the controlled substance act, and one for attempted burglary. He also has 12 misdemeanor convictions. Kuchan is being held on $250,000 bail in Snohomish County Jail.
