Emergency shelter improved

emergency shelters In conjunction with Disaster Preparedness Month and the statewide Drop, Cover and Hold exercise, King County Executive Ron Sims and King County American Red Cross CEO John Fine announced a joint effort to improve emergency shelter readiness and emergency supplies throughout the county in preparation for major disasters.
Initial plans call for the county and Red Cross to place emergency supply storage containers at a dozen locations. Each site will have enough stored supplies to sustain 350 residents for three days.
The sites will be stocked with food, water, cots, blankets, basic medical supplies, and comfort kits. Murals painted by students from nearby schools will adorn each of the storage containers.
The Woodinville location is at the Gold Creek Dome athletic facility. The students who will paint the container are yet to be determined.
