Roy Rainey, Woodinville's interim city manager during the search for a permanent manager, began work last Wednesday.
Rainey hails originally from Enid, Oklahoma, and attended Oklahoma State University. He's worked through the years in many municipalities, beginning in Norman, Oklahoma, where he served as an assistant city manager. His experience with the then city of 60,000 citizens "convinced me I didn't want to work in big cities."
Since then, he's worked in Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon, and retired last August to Anderson Island near Tacoma. Rainey said he's come temporarily out of retirement, though, and was looking forward to working in Woodinville.
"It's a great city--busy," Rainey said.
