Crews respond to mobile home fire

Units from the Bothell Fire Department and Woodinville Fire & Life Safety District responded to a mobile home fire in the 12000 block of Woodinville Dr. on May 7. Units found smoke coming from a single-wide trailer.
The fire is believed to have been set by a three-year-old girl playing with a barbecue lighter, setting a bed on fire. The home suffered smoke damage, and losses are estimated to be between $8,000 and $12,000. The owner of the home was alerted by a smoke detector, and everyone was able to escape unharmed. Three engine companies responded to the fire.

May is Museum Month

At last week's Woodinville City Council meeting, Mayor Bob Miller proclaimed May to be Museum Month in Woodinville. The proclamation states, "a knowledge and appreciation of history is essential to sound decisionmaking for nations, states, and communities," and "throughout this month residents of Woodinville will become more aware of the museums and historical societies in their community." Miller then presented the proclamation to Phyllis Keller, president of the Woodinville Historical Society.
Although there is no formal museum in Woodinville, Keller said that there was a display case with historical photos at City Hall. "The Historical Society is looking forward to having its first museum in the old Sorenson schoolhouse," Keller said.
