Soccer definitely runs in the Lasby family of Woodinville. Brandon, Brett, and Genah Lasby are all avid soccer players.
Brett, a Woodinville High senior, has accepted a soccer scholarship at Rutgers University. Currently a forward on the Falcon soccer team, Brett will play soccer at Rutgers this fall with his older brother Brandon, who played for the Falcons before graduating in 1996. Brandon is transferring to Rutgers from St. Mary's College in Moraga, California, and the two brothers will once again play soccer on the same team.
Brandon and Brett are joined in their love of the game by their younger sister Genah, a sophomore on the Falcon girls' soccer team.
For the Lasbys, playing soccer has been an integral part of their growing up together. Both boys were on the team last year when it placed third in state. Genah remembers watching her brothers play soccer, then beginning to play herself. At some point, she started to really enjoy the game on her own. Her other love is drama, and she will appear in the upcoming WHS production of West Side Story.
Brett, who is one of the top 24 players in the nation in the U-18 Olympic Development Players program, missed the first part of the Kingco season due to injury. He will play with the Falcons, who are currently in 4th place, in the upcoming playoffs. Later in the summer, he and Brandon will attend the Rutgers 12-day preseason training camp in Portugal.
