Northshore schools continue to pile up the math awards

   The Northshore School District's fifth through eighth graders swept the top six spots in Overlake's School's annual math competition. Categories for competition included: Algebra; Probability and Statistics/Arithmetic; Mental Math; and Geometry.

Voc/tech students honored

   Four area students have been named recipients of the 1997 Washington Award for Vocational Excellence (WAVE) by the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board. WAVE honors students for outstanding achievement, leadership, and community service in vocational and technical education. Local students included: Mathew L. Cosand, Bothell, Business Education, Inglemoor High School; Stephanie A. Stevens, Brier, Plant Studies/Flower Shop, Lynnwood High School; Susan R. Wallace, Bothell, Precision Machining, Lake Washington Tech. College; and Marni L. Leiter, Woodinville, Marketing Education, Woodinville High School.
