For nine-year-old Spud McComas of Kingsgate, May 12th was a very good day indeed at the golf course. He hit a hole-in-one on the 102-yard 4th hole at Crossroads Golf Course. A third grader at Woodmoor, Spud, as he prefers to be called, has been on golf courses since he was two and has played golf since he was four.
"When I hit the hole-in-one, I thought it was mostly luck," Spud said. "I knew it was a good shot; when Dad and I went up to the green to check, we looked all around. I didn't know it was in the hole. I looked in and was so surprised. Other golfers saw my ball go in and clapped."
Spud has been taking both tennis and golf lessons at Gold Creek Sports Club. His parents, Terry and Faye McComas, are surprised and pleased and hope their son continues his interest in the game.
