ATL is recognized for school service
Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) recently received recognition from the Washington Association of School Administrators for its partnership efforts with at-risk youth in the Northshore schools.
ATL has become a "Community Classroom" for 15-20 high school students per semester. The students are ones who typically have not experienced success in traditional high schools. In this program, they spend half of their school day training in entry level jobs throughout ATL ranging from human resources to the stockroom and from international marketing to facilities.
The school district provides a work training coordinator who visits each trainee and manager every day. The company and its managers do the real job coaching and helping students transfer academic knowledge to real life situations. ATL also provides job shadowing for Northshore staff.
