Taking Care Fair at Evergreen
by Deborah Stone
1997 marks Evergreen Hospital Medical Center's 25th anniversary, and to celebrate this occasion, it will hold a "Taking Care Fair" on May 31st, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Hospital Galleria in Kirkland.
"The community has given generously in its support of Evergreen," explains CEO Andrew Fallat. "This health fair is our way of saying thank you by providing useful health information and a fun time for the whole family."
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour various departments at the hospital and receive health care information from different exhibits. There will be a series of mini-health talks on topics such as Daycare, Arthritis Pain Management, Caring for Aging Parents, Choosing a Health Plan, and Self Care for Moms. Free health screenings, car seat inspections, and neck massages will be offered. Children will have several activities geared toward them, including the Fit Kid Bus, face painting, building first aid kits, and entertainment by magician Toby Wessel.
A commemorative tree will be planted by members of Evergreen's Board of Commissioners to mark this special event, and a time capsule filled with items used in the hospital will be buried in the courtyard. For more information, call the Taking Care Fair hotline at 899-3600.
