by Andrew Walgamott, staff reporter
A two-car collision on NE North Woodinville Way near 142nd Ave. NE sent the drivers of both vehicles to the hospital on May 28. A 17-year-old Woodinville man was transported to Harborview with head lacerations, and a 39-year-old man was taken to Evergreen with broken ribs and back pain.
According to Woodinville Fire and Life Safety District Battalion Chief Phil Paige, the accident occurred around 5:25 p.m. He described it as a "T-bone" type accident between a 1989 Dodge Daytona and a 1995 Nissan minivan.
According to Det. Dave Wells with King County's Major Accident Reconstruction unit, the minivan pulled out onto the North Bypass as the Dodge was coming up the hill, striking the Dodge. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch. The 17-year-old was reported in satisfactory condition Friday, and has been released from the hospital, according to Larry Zalin at Harborview. Two passengers in the minivan escaped injury.
According to Paige, both vehicles driver's side airbags inflated. All involved were wearing seatbelts, as well.
