Christopher Park, an 11-year-old fifth-grader at Hollywood Hill Elementary, ran the 75-yard dash in 9.37 seconds, breaking the school record set in 1971. His event was part of the annual track and field Junior Olympics for the Northshore elementary schools.
Park was joined in setting new records by schoolmates Richie Lentz in high jump at 4' 9", Laura Thom in triple jump at 28' 1/12", and the fourth grade girls relay team of Ingrid Cooper, Laura Thom, Kia DuNann, and Stephanie Schmoll in a time of 30.92 seconds. Hollywood Hill tied for 1st with Kokanee at the event.
George Park, Christopher's father, says his son is undefeated in speed events. Christopher is a good student who also enjoys playing basketball, baseball, and soccer.
