Preschool seeks new home
by Mina Hochberg
Northshore Community Co-op Preschool is looking for a new home. The school was forced to move out of the Sorenson complex last winter when the roof caved in. It relocated to Sunrise Elementary for the spring, but due to limited space at Sunrise, it must relocate again.
The preschool had anticipated eventually moving back to the Sorenson complex after Northshore School District repaired the roof. However, the city of Woodinville has been considering buying the complex, and the school district informed the preschool that they would not repair roof damages.
"The fate of the building is uncertain," said Twila Bartlow, chairperson for Northshore Community Co-op Preschool. She explained that the preschool is considering renting space at Sorenson in the future, once the owner is determined. However, a location must meanwhile be secured, she said, since the owner is not likely to be determined by the beginning of the next school year.
Northshore Community Co-op is a three-year-old preschool funded by the state and organized through Shoreline Community College. Currently 60 families are involved in the co-op, and according to Bartlow, the numbers have grown this year.
"We're now finding quite a few [parents] working this in with their work schedules ... because they want to be involved," Bartlow said.
The preschool is seeking a new location in an area easily accessible for Woodinville and Bothell families. Anyone interested in renting out space can contact Bartlow at 485-4419 or leave a message at 485-4860.
