Sensational summer fun
The East County Park & Recreation District has announced its summer programs for kids. From noon to 3 p.m. four days a week, the district offers free drop-in recreational programs:
Monday Madness is for children in grades 6-8, Terrific Tuesdays and Thrilling Thursdays are for children in the K-5 grades, and Fantastic Fridays include events and activities for children grades K-8.
The Wild Wednesday Action/Adventure Field Trip Program includes trips to the Pacific Science Center, Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Aquarium, Snohomish County Children's Museum, hiking to Wallace Falls, and a trip to Wild Waves/Enchanted Village. Field trip fees range from free to $11 per child.
The free Peanut Butter & Jam concert series provides a different musical talent on Saturdays throughout the summer at Maltby Community Park from 1-3 p.m. Pack a picnic lunch. The concert line-up includes: Zephyr Jazz Band, Symphony De La Steel, Cowboy Jug Band & Fiddle, Bluegrass music, Peter Blake & Friends, Evergreen Youth Jazz Combo, Bronn Journey. Week-long art and sports camps are also planned.
August 2nd and 3rd are the dates for the second Annual Maltby Mania Festival. Last year's event has been expanded to two fun-packed days which will feature entertainment, food and craft vendors, clown jugglers, mimes, and fireworks.
