New planning/development director
Gail Robbins, currently coordinator of organizational development for the Everett School District, has been hired as Northshore's new director of staff development and strategic planning. Robbins, who has an extensive background in staff development, has also worked on district-wide strategic planning and grants management. She will replace Lynda Humphrey, who is retiring this year.
Robbins will assume her new responsibilities for the Northshore School District on August 1. She lives in Mukilteo with her husband Rick, who is principal of Shorewood High School in Shoreline. The couple has two children, a daughter in college and a son who will be entering college this fall.
Bayard named principal at Fernwood
Anne Bayard, assistant principal and lead administrator of Sorenson Early Childhood Center, has been selected as the new principal of Fernwood Elementary School in Bothell. She will replace John Bond, who has been appointed principal of Northshore Junior High.
Bayard, who received her principal certification from Seattle Pacific University, has worked in the Northshore School District since 1978. For the past three years, she has been assistant principal at Sorenson, Northshore's program for young children with special needs, ages three to five, and two Head Start classrooms for low-income four-year-old children. Her academic and teaching background are in special and regular education.
Head Start accepting applications
Northshore Head Start is now accepting applications for the upcoming school year. Head Start is a free pre-school program for low-income four-year-olds and their families. It is held Monday-Thursday, three-and-a-half hours each day. Transportation is provided, as well as lunches and field trips. Head Start also offers the University of Washington Parenting Program.
