Leash laws exist for a reason

I would like to take this opportunity to remind people that there is a leash law in King County. As our property runs up against the Tolt River Pipeline we see many people enjoying the trail and many choose to bring along their dogs. Some have their dogs on leashes but many do not.

On Thursday evening, July 17 we had our pet rabbits running around in an enclosed pen. Two women riding horses came along with their unleashed dogs. The dogs came running into our yard and tried to catch the rabbits. Fortunately, we were close by and we were able to save the rabbits. There was never an apology from the two woman and the only comment from one was "Accidents do happen."

That would not have been an appropriate explanation for my daughters if their pet rabbits had been mauled by dogs. Perhaps these women need to take their dogs to obedience school so that tthey obey when called and in the meantime should go horseback riding without their unruly dogs! Remember there is a leash law for a reason!
