The Trans West 16-year-old baseball team recently captured the Continental American baseball Association's regional championship at Hartman Park in Redmond.

Trans West beat the Seattle A's 7-2 in the final game of the tournament. Trans West defeated the Dow Baseball Club, the Burien Knights, the Renton Rebels, the West Sound Baseball Club and the Seattle A's en route to the CABA title. Two weeks ago, the Trans West team went undefeated in the regional AAU Jr. Olympic tournament, beating the Burien Knights in the championship game 11-1.

Winning both regional titles, Trans West has qualified to advance to both the CABA National Tournament in Arlington, Texas and the National Jr Olympic Baseball Tournament held in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Kris Billmaier, who will attend Woodinville High School as a junior in the fall, captured the CABA tournament batting title, batting .654 with two home runs and 5 doubles. Billmaier, Mike McDonald and Deryck Christensen, all from Trans West, were named co-MVPs for the tournament.

The Trans West team is 35-3 in 1997. In addition to the Jr. Olympic and CABA regional championships, the team has won the Yakima Jr. American Legion tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
