The King County Solid Waste Division's traveling Household Hazardous Wastemobile will visit Kirkland for a two-week period beginning Aug. 21 at the Houghton Park & Ride, located at the corner of NE 70th Street and 116th Avenue NE, just off I-405 at exit 17. The Wastemobile will be open Aug. 21 and 28 from noon to 7 p.m., Aug. 22 and 29 from noon to 7 p.m. and Aug. 23 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
King County residents may drop off their cans of used paint, paint thinners, pesticides, automotive products and car batteries at the Wastemobile at no charge. Materials can be disposed of only when the Wastemobile is open for business.
Materials such as mothballs, some flea remedies, nail polish remover, chlorine bleach and oven and drain cleaners are also hazardous waste and residents are encouraged to bring these to the Wastemobile rather than putting them in the garbage.
