King County Council 3rd District candidate Chic Hendricks withdrew from the race against Republican incumbent Louise Miller last week. Citing party unity, Hendricks said he will focus his energies on helping other GOP candidates.

"I want to be of service to the people of King County. After meeting with Republican Party representatives, I felt that the party's interest is best served by maintaining unity in the Third District," Hendricks said in a press statement.

Miller is now unopposed. She represents Woodinville, Duvall, Carnation and Skykomish.

"I am committed to helping Suzette Cooke become the next County Executive and maintaining our Republican majority in the County Council. Nothing is more important than that," Hendricks said.

Cooke is running against the winner of a Sept. primary between current executive Ron Sims, a democrat who was appointed Executive after Gary Locke became governor, and Kenn Yeager.
