Thanks to Camp Fire volunteers

At the end of July the sounds of laughter and excitement that you heard coming from Blyth Park were 160 boys and girls enjoying Camp Fire's annual Day Camp. Camp Fire Boys and Girls from Lake Forest Park to Kenmore to Bothell, Woodinville and Kirkland spent the week in the out-of-doors cooking over wood fires, making ice cream with old fashioned ice cream makers, creating animal masks, leather jewelry, bird feeders, singing songs, canoeing, doing archery and a gazillion things more! The Camp was "on Safari" for the week, learning about animals both exotic and familiar, plus just plain having fun. The children were able to experience a great time because of the hard work and energy of over 60 adult and teen volunteers. Counselors, specialists and junior staff led small groups of kids in their activities, which culminated with group games and an awards ceremony on Friday afternoon.

A huge thank you goes to our Day Camp leadership team: Dean and Karen Wilkerson were co-site directors, Christy Jacobs headed up the program, and Eliza Love headed up support. Our Volunteers provide opportunitiies for kids to develop values, build friendships, give service and have fun through our summer day camps and year round group program. Our young people are fortunate to have so many folks who really care about them and what they do.
