Kids to walk against cancer

 The American Cancer Society's 'Kids Walk Against Cancer' will be held Aug. 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Husky stadium on the UW campus

Evergreen Fair opens

 The Evergreen State Fair, billed as "a county fair with country flair,' will open Aug. 21 and run through Sept. 1 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe.

Rose care at the zoo

 Woodland Park Zoo and the Seattle Rose Society will host Summer Rose Care Day Aug. 24 from noon to 4 p.m. at the zoo's rose garden.

Traffic Advisory



The King County Road Services Division is advising motorists of heightened construction activity at the intersection of Woodinville-Duvall Road and Paradise Lake Road. Shutdowns are likely through Friday, August 22nd.

Kiest announces campaign

 Alan Kiest, an eight-year veteran of the Lake Forest Park Council, has announced his candidacy for re-election to Council Position 1. He ran unopposed four years ago.

Program to Focus on TDR

 The King County Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) Program, a proposed land use management tool, will be the focus of a moderated show to be aired on Public Access Channel 29 (TCI) Wednesday, Aug. 20th from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Free seminars for seniors

 The Brittany Park Retirement Community will sponsor three free seminars for seniors beginning with The World of Cruising Aug. 27 at 1 :30 p.m. at the Hollywood Schoolhouse, 14810 NE 145th St. in Woodinville.

Recycling event at BHS

 The King County Solid Waste Division and the City of Bothell have scheduled a special recycling collection event for Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bothell High School, 18125 92nd NE.

The Humane Society needs change

 The Humane Society for Seattle/King County has launched a month-long coin drive to raise funds for shelter operations and outreach programs.
