Evergreen Fair opens

The Evergreen State Fair, billed as "a county fair with country flair,' will open Aug. 21 and run through Sept. 1 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe.
Concerts are held at 4 and again at 8 p.m. Concert tickets are included in the fair admission; reserved seating is additional. Trisha Yearwood is set for Aug. 25; Charley Pride will entertain Aug. 26. Blackhawk, a new group on the country scene, is scheduled for Aug. 27 with Ty Herndon and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band playing Aug. 28.
The monster trucks, Gravedigger and Dragonslayer, will perform for one show only Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. This event required reservations. Call (360) 794-0395.
Rodeos will be presented Aug. 29 at 8 p.m.; Aug. 30 and 31 at 2 p.m. and Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. Admission is $2. The racing lineup begins Aug. 22 with a demo derby. Aug.. 23 features super stocks. Call the racing hotline at (360) 794-7711 for a complete schedule.
Other traditional fair happenings include a carnival., commercial booths, home arts and craft exhibits, food, animal judging and barns.
