Accident on W-D
by Andrew Walgamott
A two-car accident witnessed by police on Woodinville-Duvall Road sent a 33-year-old Woodinville woman to Evergreen Hospital last Wednesday night.
The city attorney will determine whether to charge the 19-year-old Woodinville man who caused the accident with driving under the influence after beer was found in his truck.
According to police, at approximately 9:55 p.m. the woman was driving a 1986 Ford Taurus westbound on Woodinville-Duvall when she was struck by a 1986 Ford F-150 pickup turning left onto 156th Ave. N.E. Police say the pickup failed to yield the right-of-way. Both vehicles suffered major front end damage.
The woman was treated and released the same night, according to a hospital spokesperson. She had been wearing a seatbelt. A quantity of beer was recovered from the pickup. A breathalyzer test administered on the driver revealed a blood alcohol level of .04. The city will determine appropriate charges, according to Sgt. Clint Olson.
The accident was witnessed from a nearby gas station by Woodinville Police Officer Starla Martin who responded immediately. "Talk about response time," Olson said.
