Local riders challenge nation's best
NW News Staff
Four Seattle area women successfully challenged scorching heat, unfamiliar horses and some of the nation's best horseback riders with disabilities at the US Cerebral Palsy Athletic Association National Horse Show in August, MI Aug. 9 and 10. The show was a selection site for membership on the US Paralympic Team.
Alena Sorm and Margo O'Callaghan each won classes with Chris Woodard placing second in a very tough class. Karol Flynn finished well in her advanced classes. The riders' strong placings put them in the running for a slot on the national team.
All four of the riders train at the Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center in Woodinville with coach Doug McCowan.
