W-D closures will hinder access to Cottage Lake, Valley
NW News Staff
COTTAGE LAKE--Woodinville-Duvall Road will be closed in two places next weekend while King County road crews install new culverts and reinforce bridges. Motorists between Woodinville and Duvall will need to use alternative routes. Near Cottage Lake, Woodinville-Duvall will be closed from 171st Ave. N.E. to 182nd Ave. N.E. from 10 p.m., Sept. 19 to 3 a.m., Sept. 21.
The closure will allow crews to install a new drainage system on Daniels Creek. The existing culverts were damaged during a storm last winter. The new culvert will help reduce flooding and protect the road from being washed out during major storms, according to King County spokesperson, Rochelle Ogershok.
The same stretch of road will be closed again from Oct. 3 through Oct. 6 as crews finish up work. Motorists should use 171st Ave. N.E., N.E. 165th St. and Avondale Rd. as detour routes. Further east, Woodinville-Duvall Rd. will be closed between West Snoqualmie Valley Rd and State Route 203 (Carnation-Duvall Rd). The closure will be effective from 7 a.m. Sept. 19 to 7 p.m., Sept. 22.
Crews are retrofitting a series of bridges over the valley to protect against earthquake damage. Motorists are advised to use 124th Ave. N.E.
