Thayer, to speak at Washington Cathedral

Helen Thayer, world famous explorer for the National Geographic and first woman to reach the North Pole, will be a guest speaker during worship services Sept. 27th and 28th at Washington Cathedral at 12300 Woodinville-Redmond Road N.E.. Thayer will share her inspirational stories of world wide treks Saturday, Sept. 27th at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 28th at 9:00, 10:15, and 11:30 a.m. in worship services at Washington Cathedral.
Thayer and husband, Bill Thayer, have walked across deserts, snow shoed over arctic regions, and scaled frozen mountain passes. A typical journey may traverse 1400 miles and take nearly 2 months while existing on spartan rations. They have encountered armed rebel groups in remote areas, survived weather extremes, and triumphed over numerous personal hardships.
