Avondale Road improvements meeting
NW News Staff
COTTAGE LAKE--The King County Road Services Division will hold an open house next week to familiarize residents with the latest plans to widen a section of Avondale Rd. The county plans to add a continuous left-turn lane on Avondale from N.E. 155th St. to Woodinville-Duvall Rd. to reduce traffic slowdowns on the busy roadway.
The project will also include a separated five-foot walkway on each side of the street to provide added safety for pedestrians. The stretch of Avondale slated for widening carries an estimated 13,000 vehicles per day and acts as a major transportation link between Woodinville and Redmond.
The $6 million in improvements could come as early as next summer if funds become available. A second stage of improvements may involve the intersection of Avondale and Woodinville-Duvall Rd.
The open house will be held Sept. 29 at the Woodinville Library at 17105 Avondale Rd. from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Project displays and engineers will be on hand. For more information call Bill Oakes at 296-8829.
