Pet day in Woodinville circa 1910
NW News Staff
One spring day early in the twentieth century "Children's Pet Day" was held, with the children together with their pets gathering at the Hollywood Farm, today the location of Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery. Only a few kittens made it into this historic photo--perhaps the dogs could not be persuaded to "hold that pose" long enough to get a crisp photo. The names of only a few of the children and adults in this photo are known at this time. If you can identify anyone in this picture, please contact the newspaper office or the Woodinville Historical Society.
The Woodinville Historical Society is a non-profit organization whose mission it is to preserve and interpret the history of the Woodinville area. If you are interested in local history and would like to be a part of this group you may write to them: Woodinville Historical Society, P.O. Box 216, Woodinville, WA 98072. Another heritage project is currently underway in the Woodinville area. This is the Cascade Valleys Heritage Corridor inventory of all heritage resources found along SR 202. In addition to historic resources the work includes cultural, archeological, scenic, recreational, and natural. Assistance is needed now with the inventory work. To find out more about this project call the Chair, Don Julien, 788-0733.
