School District Launches Parent Helpline
NW News Staff
Effective October 6, the Northshore PTA in partnership with the school district will operate a Parent Helpline. This phone line will be staffed by trained parent volunteers prepared to respond to the questions and concerns of other parents. The goal of the helpline is to connect parents with the best school or district resources available to help solve their problems or respond to their need.
"Very often, parents don't know how to access or approach a school district employee; many are reluctant. Our hope is that parents might appreciate being able to talk to a peer, or another parent who happens to know 'the system' pretty well," commended Cheryl de Boer, PTA Council president. "Problems are much easier to resolve if they are identified early and dealt with constructively," she continued, "If we can help a parent seek answers, obtain accurate information and avoid feeling frustrated, we will have accomplished our goal."
The Parent Helpline will operate Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am - 12 noon. The number is 489-6239.
