NW News Staff
The national Merit Scholarsip Foundation has designated 17 Northshore seniors as 1998 Commended Students, in addition to the previously announced five National Merit Semifinalits. Across the nation, the Foundation designates about 15,000 Semifinalists and 35,000 Commended Students from among the one million students who take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude test during their junior year. Commended Students do not continue in competition for Finalist status and the 6,000 National Merit Scholarships, but they are considered for other scholarships because of their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students are in the top 5% of the nation's high school seniors, based on their PSAT scores.
At Bothell High, the Commended Students are Jennifer Harrison, Hana Tysver, and Andrew Wiselogle.
At Ingelmoor High, they are Holly Atkinson, Megan Davis, Bryan Egan, Alisha Griffith, Martha Haueter, Brooke Hunter, Kyle Lampe, Adrienne Meyer, Benjamin Snow, and Ben Utela.
At Woodinville High, they include Aaron Dickie, Valerie Harris, Rachel Long, and Steven Martin.
