Molbak's Named Best Family Business
Family-owned companies in the state of Washington amount to big business. For this very reason, recognition of the "state's best" were recently announced at the 1997 Washington Family Business of the Year Awards Conference. Molbak's, Inc. won for being named the Best Medium Size Family Business in Washington. "We feel very honored to win this award. Family-owned businesses are vital to our community now and in the future," said Kirsten Molbak, Molbak's vice chairman. "We have always felt that one of the key strengths of our business lies in the fact that it is family-owned and operated."
Approximately 186 nominees throughout the state were judged on criteria such as business development, family-business linkage, contributions to community and industry, innovative business strategies and practices, succession preparedness, multi-generation family business involvement and longevity. The categories included Best Small Family Business, Best Medium Family Business, Best Large Family Business, Best New Family Business, and Best Old Family Business. The Washington Family Business Awards are sponsored by Pacific Lutheran University's Family Enterprise Institute. In its fourth year, the annual event is growing in recognition and popularity.
