WSP adds drunk driver patrols for holidays
BELLEVUE--The Washington State Patrol has added special drunk driver emphasis patrol for the holidays. For the next three weekends, a special unit of six troopers deployed from regular traffic duties will patrol King County. Already, over the Thanksgiving weekend, 55 Driving Under the Influence arrests were made in King County. WSP says December traffic deaths have averaged 18 since 1938, but over the past four years that has dropped to 8, and attributes that drop to aggressive DUI emphasis and media attention.
