Free home repairs available
Christmas in April Eastside, a volunteer home repair program, is looking for 10 Eastside homes in need of clean-up or renovation. Christmas in April Eastside is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping homeowners who are financially distressed and find themselves with no options when their house falls into serious disrepair. Low-income, elderly or disabled homeowners are eligible to apply for the program and may call (425) 455-0179 for an application form and more information. Applications should be returned to Christmas in April by December 30, 1997, to be considered for the April, 1998 rebuilding event. Home repair needs are carefully reviewed and prioritized with the homeowner and a team of skilled volunteers. The repair services include painting, fixing leaking roofs, carpentry repair, plumbing, locksmithing, window replacement, installation of appliances, waste disposal, yard work, and other critical repairs.
